Comptroller |

|
Sir, |
Having completed our R. Road to Victoria
and a grade of 5 miles beyond, our desire to obtain the balance of
land certificates to which our Company is entitled by virtue of any
general & special laws for the encouragement of Railroads. |
Under the general law of 1854 as well as
the law passed at the recent session of the Legislature, granting 10
Sections per mile on grading, I believe it is the duty of the
Comptroller to order the Survey to be made, whilst under the special
act of 1852 granting 8 sections land per mile to our Road, it is made
the duty of the Governor to order the Survey. |
I therefore beg you will prepare the order
and procure the same to be signed by his Excellency Gov. Clark &
yourself, jointly or separately, if needs be. |
I would suggest George F. Thielipape, Engr
on Indianola R. Road as a suitable & competent Surveyor, and refer
you to Hon. F. S. Stockdale or any of the Draughtsmen in the Genl.
Land office as to his character. We are induced to suggest the name of
Mr. Thielipape, solely on the Score of Economy, at such times as the
present, he living near at hand, we think will undertake it at a
satisfactory price. |
