Gentlemen,
   I have just seen & read the report of the Engineer appointed to examine the Eastern Texas Rail road. You will determine upon examination of the report accompanying papers whether the Road is entitled to the loan it seeks. If you grant them the warrant, I will counter sign these on my return to Austin. I see nothing else to be done by me but to counter sign these warrants & that may be done when I get back. I will return at the earliest possible moment.
Very respectfully
Edward Clark
P. S. you will oblige me by lending Genl. Edwards every facility that you can in getting the desired U. S. Bonds, & not let my absence interfere with his {rest of line lost on the fold}
