Newberry SC Aug the 24th 1863

Captain L. C. Meanes

Captain,
Yours of the 19th and 22nd is on hand and contents noted. Enclosed you will please find receipt for 200 Bags. I shall proceed immediately to post the Circular in regard to tax in Kind in the District.
Will it not be necessary to rent some place here, in which to store the Tax in Kind? The Laurens R. Road will cease running this week, the Government having taken possession, the track will be torn up and the iron removed to some place, where it is more needed. Mr. J. J. Davis will therefore have to transport all stores collected in Laurens by Wagons and I suppose Newberry will be the point to which they will be hauled.

Very respectfully yours,
Obedient Servant

George Larsen.
