Dear Major, |
I send over my agent with certain papers
for the Sect. of War. The commissary in Florida is I presume like
Col: Northrop -- determined that no one shall be fed except by his
special permit. If not asking too much (and I hope it will not be)
will you please read the enclosed letters and present them to the
Sect. of War and get for us the required permit. I would not tax or
trouble you with this matter but for our necessities. I should have
come to Richmond myself but my presence is needed here for the
purpose of securing labor and organizing our force for the ensuing
year. |
I will be under many obligations to you
for the kindness. |
I am, dear sir, with great respect |
Very Truly Yours |
