General,
   *****
Eighteen hundred men of Lee's corps are looked for to-day. Have been delayed three days at Mayfield waiting for transportation {on the tracks of the Milledgeville RR, then the Georgia RR, but the rolling stock would probably be from the Georgia RR}. There is the greatest inefficiency or basest treachery in our railroad department. General Beauregard orders me to send you 3,000 men upon your requisition, if there be no advance upon Augusta.
