Dalton, January 13, 1864

General Henry C. Wayne
Milledgeville

I beg you to represent to the Governor the importance of immediate reform in the management of the {Western & Atlantic} railroad from Atlanta to Dalton. It seems to be entirely unmanaged. With abundant means it does not supply us. Unless the State authorities act promptly in this matter we shall be compelled to march back to our sources of supply. I addressed the Governor yesterday on this subject. Reply.
Respectfully,
J. E. Johnston
