   The enemy are reported advancing from Plymouth and Washington. Destination evidently Weldon {junction of the Petersburg RR and the Wilmington & Weldon RR -- the line from Wilmington to Richmond.}.
   I must have re-enforcements there from Petersburg. It is not possible to protect the line of railroad from this place, and without cavalry. The force from Plymouth is reported to be 3,000; that from Washington not known.
   General Martin has been notified. Officer commanding at Petersburg should help.
