The stockholders held their
annual meeting on Thursday last. The receipts from transportation for he
fiscal year amount to $1,4446, 473.75. Deducting expenditures, the
amount invested in cotton bonds, the payment on bonds held by the State,
and the first dividend of the year of 10 per cent., there was left on
hand about $585,000. At the meeting held the day previous, the board had
made a 15 per cent. dividend, being 25 per cent. paid for the year, with
a large surplus. The stockholders authorized a further subscription to
the Chatham railroad of $300,000. The old directors were re-elected,
namely: Geo. W. Mordecai, W. J. Hawkins, S. S. Royster, and J. B.
Batchelor. Directors on the part of the State, Geo. Little, R. W.
Lassiter, Gen. J. B. Littlejohn. |
