From the report of the
President of the above road dated July 2nd, 1862, we learn that the
gross earnings, of the road for the twelve months ending May 31st,
1862 were $791,053 68; the disbursements for the same period were
$440,420 16; the nett earnings were $350,645 52. The increase of gross
earnings over the previous year is $370,401 79, and of nett profit:
$269,353 93. |
The whole number of Soldiers
carried over the road for the time indicated was 87,057; other
passengers, 117,325 -- total, 254,382. |
The directors have declared a
dividend of 8 per cent., and have paid within the year $27,140 on
coupons of bonded debt and set aside $25,000 for the sinking fund. |
