| From the Richmond Enquirer of the 2d and
3d, we extract the following intelligence: |
| ***** |
| Jeff. Davis Flying Artillery |
| This noble command left on the 1st for
Manassas, with well filled ammunition chests. As we have before stated,
the corps comprise about 200 men, 160 horses and eight rifled cannon. It
was raised and equipped wholly at the expense of the people of Alabama,
and is entirely self-sustaining. |
| Railroad Accident |
| The special train of cars on the
{Virginia} Central railroad, which conveyed
the Jeff. Davis Flying Artillery from this city Tuesday evening, was
thrown from the track about five miles from the depot and two of the
cars much broken. Fortunately the gallant passengers escaped without the
slightest injury, either to themselves, their horses, or their pieces.
The train proceeded after a detention of a few hours. |
