Railroad Accident |
We regret to learn that an
accident occurred on the South Carolina Railroad on Thursday morning
last {January 1, 1863?}, by which Mr. H. S.
Millis, Express Messenger, lost his life. It seems the down train ran
off the track near Kingsville, breaking the track of the engine, tearing
up portion of the track and precipitating the cars from it. Mr.
Millis, when he saw the cars turning over, jumped off, the cars falling
upon him and killing him. The Mail Agent and a negro man, who were in
the same car with Mr. Millis, remained inside and were uninjured. |
