Raleigh & Gaston Railroad |
Under the efficient management of Dr.
Hawkins and his excellent assistants, this Road continues to do a fine
business, notwithstanding the freight has been almost entirely cut
off. The travel is quite large. The transportation of soldiers,
baggage, &c., has been large, but the charges are so low as to
bring but little real profit to the Road. We learn at a late meeting
of the Board, a dividend was made of 3 per cent. for the last six
months. |
On Thursday last the annual meeting of the
stockholders of this Road was held in this City. We learn that all the
old Directors were re-elected, with the exception of Maj. C. L.
Hinton, who declined. J. B. Batchelor, Esq., of Warren, was elected in
his place. The act of the last Legislature, increasing the capital
stock, was accepted. |
