Arrival and Departure of Trains |
The schedules of the North Carolina
Railroad and of the Raleigh & Gaston Railroad were changed on the
28th ult. These changes are not infrequent, and as our railroads,
unlike all the other roads in the country, never advertise these
changes, persons wishing to travel are often considerably
disappointed. In order to inform our readers in regard to this matter,
we have taken the trouble to ascertain the hours of arrival and
departure of the trains coming to and going from the city. Below we
publish the schedules of the two roads: |
North Carolina Railroad -- ail Train to
Goldsborough -- arrives at 5:30, A. M., and leaves and 5:45, A. M. |
Freight and Accommodation Train to
Charlotte -- arrives at 6:54, A. M., and leaves at 7:30, A. M. |
Mail Train to Charlotte -- arrives at
4:50, P. M., and leaves at 5, P. M. |
Freight and Accommodation Train to
Goldsboro' -- arrives at 4:58, P. M., and leaves at 5:20, P. M. |
Raleigh & Gaston Railroad -- Mail
Train to Weldon -- arrives at 5, P. M., and leaves at 5:30, A. M. |
The last Fayetteville Observer
asks: |
"Can anybody tell what are the times
of departure and arrival of the North Carolina Railroad and the
Charlotte and Columbia Road {Charlotte &
South Carolina RR}? To oblige a family desiring to travel over
them, we yesterday hunted through our exchanges, tow Raleigh papers, a
Salisbury paper, two Charlotte papers, and a Concord paper, all
printed along the roads, but we found not a word about them. Have the
roads stopped? or is it only that they can't afford to advertise in
their local papers?" |
