Raleigh & Gaston Rail Road |
From the annual published proceedings of
this Road, we find that the total receipts of the Road for the year,
ending May 31, 1861, amounted to $248,001.10 -- of which $89,601.80
were from passengers, $147,602.40 were from freight and express, and
from mail and miscellaneous sources, $10,796.90. The ordinary running
expenses were $119,887.18, leaving a balance of $128,113.92. Of this
were paid out for extra expenses on new Shops and Foundry, iron and
land for shed at Weldon, $41,620.30, and $5,145 on interest of funded
debt, having also paid to stockholders a dividend of 7 per cent for
the year. The Road has been well managed under Dr. Hawkins' energetic
eye, and no road in the country can boast a more efficient or
accommodating corps of officers and employees. |
