North Carolina Railroad |
We observe that much complaint exists,
especially on the western end of this Road, in regard to its
management. The warehouses are blockaded up with freight, and local
freights are rejected at many of the depots. We know nothing of the
grounds of these complaints except from the papers. If they are real,
why do not the Directors look into them and apply the remedy? The
people are deeply interested in the proper and efficient management of
this Road, and we regret to hear these complaints. We hope that those
who carp and complain, have looked into the facts. The Road has been
seriously burdened for nearly twelve months. It has done an incredible
amount of work, and much of its machinery has been run down. The
Directors owe it to themselves and the public, to remove all real and
just causes of complaint if any exist, against this important Road;
but at a time like this, it is impossible to meet fully the wishes of
every citizen. |
