Terrible Railroad Accident |
Full particulars of the fearful railroad
accident, which occurred on the Raleigh & Gaston Railroad, on
yesterday morning 28th, will be found in this morning's paper. The
reader is referred to the painful recital. It is but just to say of
the Company that this is the first serious accident that has ever
occurred on the road since its reconstruction, a period of ten to
twelve years, and the first instance of loss of life occurring through
the negligence or carelessness of the employees. The management of the
Road under the vigilant Superintendent, Mr. Dunn, and the successive
able Presidents, has hitherto rendered travel over the road almost
certainly safe and up to the minute of its schedules. |
