While the army is suffering for corn, and
in some places officers are impressing corn, and many families are
unable to get corn, the Sumter (S. C.) Watchman is informed
that there are thousands of bushels of corn rotting at various
railroad depots. A gentleman states that an immense quantity of corn
is piled up at the Claremont depot on the Camden road {South
Carolina RR}, so much ??ed that he could not bear his hand
between the bags. |
