A Shocking Bad Railroad Platform |
Whoever wishes to form an
adequate conception of the |
"Great Serbonian Bog between |
Mount Cassia and Damietta, old; |
Where armies whole have sunk," |
|
has only to walk over to the Depot of the
North Carolina Railroad in this city to attain his end. Such a
hog-wallow as is presented by the platform we have never before seen.
Daily is presented the spectacle not only of men, but of delicate
women and children wading over their ankles in red clay mire, in their
entrance to and departure from the cars. Such a railroad platform is a
disgrace to the Company to which it belongs, and to the Capital of the
State, while it is a most uncomfortable imposition on the traveler.
Let it be "reformed, altogether." |
