Railroad Accident |
An accident occurred on the
North Carolina road, on Wednesday morning, by which some of our brave
soldiers returning on furloughs were seriously injured. The accident
occurred near Query's Depot. |
The injured are Colonel Buck, of Alabama,
slightly -- his servant badly. |
F. M. Williams and S. H. Dean,
both of Union county, Georgia members of the Twenty-third Georgia
regiment, were also injured, the former having a fracture of the ankle,
and the latter the foot so badly crushed that amputation was necessarily
performed. Others, of the soldiers, received slight contusions. |
Alfred Sheeler, baggage
master, had his ankle fractured. Joseph Bee, the property of J. D.
Williams, of Warren, leg broke. The wood passer on the engine Excelsior
had some of his ribs broken. The fireman on the Manassas, (up train),
received severe injuries in the head. |
The wounded are doing as well
as can be expected. |
