Cotton |
The Orange & Alexandria Railroad
Company have contracted to bring to this city, over their road,
two thousand bales of cotton {between 65 and 70
car loads} to be shipped from this port to New York in
steamers. The cotton is from Memphis {shipped on
the Memphis & Charleston RR}, and to be brought to
Lynchburg over the {East Tennessee & Georgia
RR, the East Tennessee & Virginia RR and the} Virginia
& Tennessee Railroad. This is but
the beginning of a heavy trade to be done in cotton by the new route. |
