The following, from General
Beauregard, refers to a raiding party of some five thousand, which,
two weeks ago, struck the Mobile & Ohio
railroad: |
"Charleston, January 2, 1865. |
"The Federal raiders are
reported to have returned from the
Mobile
& Ohio railroad, going westward. They left
forty wounded. |
"General Gholson was
badly wounded. The damage to the road will be repaired in about ten
days. |
"G. T.
Beauregard." |
