There is no probability that Congress will
put all Railroads with their Presidents, superintendents, conductors
agents and employees in the military service, and make such gross
neglect a capital crime to be punished on all concerned by shooting,
but the Legislature might enact some requirements that would benefit
the public, and exact from these corporations a more honest discharge
of duty. But then there would be practical good sense in such
legislation -- and this "is not in the style" of present
legislators. |
God save the country, if its destiny in
any wise depends on proper and conscientious performance of duty by
Railroad corporations. |
