The Jackson Railroad Rifles |
We yesterday mentioned the
turnout of Capt. Williams' company on the previous evening, but failed
to mention the occasion of it. They received a magnificent silk flag
from Miss Jane McCullough, at her father's residence, corner of
Magnolia and Perdido streets. Master McCullough presented the flag for
his sister, and made a noble speech, to which Capt. Williams responded
in gallant terms. Major Ranney and others spoke, and there was a
collation and glorious time generally. We should explain that the
Jackson Railroad Rifles are composed mostly of the employes of the
Jackson Railroad Company {New Orleans, Jackson
& Great Northern RR}, and that Capt. Williams is the
well-known and deservedly popular Superintendent of the railroad. {And
Ranney was the President of the RR} |
