| Effect of the Late Rains |
| The Canton Citizen of Saturday
last says: |
| The heavy rains mentioned in
our lays did immense damage to all the railroads in this State. From
Thursday night, 31st Jan., to Tuesday night, 5th Feb., we had no mails
from any quarter. On Wednesday night we received a bushel basketful of
back mail matter, including sixteen daily papers from New Orleans. |
