Notice is hereby given, to the
shippers of merchandize by the Wilmington & Manchester Railroad Trains
into the Confederate States, that a full and true invoice of said
merchandize must accompany the packages at the time of delivery to the
Company's agent for transportation. The invoices must be sworn to, by
the party making the shipment, before a Justice of the Peacy, Notary
Public, or some person duly qualified to administer an oath. |
Upon all merchandize which is
dutiable under the tariff of the Confederate Government, which at
present is the United States tariff for 1857, with some amendments made
by the Confederate Congress, the duties will be required to be prepaid
in specie. |
The above regulations have
been adopted in pursuance of the laws passed by the Congress of the
Confederate States, which are applicable to and binding upon Roads
crossing the frontier. Merchants and others having business connections
with parties in South Carolina, and desiring a copy of the Amended
Confederate Tariff, can procure them of the publishing house of Messrs.
