What They think {Vicksburg,
Shreveport & Texas RR} |
Since we published an article
relative to the completion of our railroad to Marshall, we have had
the satisfaction of learning that it was not without its effect. Many
of the citizen stockholders of the Road, have awakened to a sense of
their duty; some sensibly remark that to have this important work
carried on, they would not hesitate giving their interests to the
Texas Road {Southern Pacific RR}, and
withdraw their claims. The motives which prompted such expressions
show an anxiety to have the right thing done. Those are our
sentiments. If we do feel disposed to extend the Road as was
contemplated in the beginning let it be given to Texas, provided she
will complete it, and set the "steam-horse" to work. |
Imagine the following notice
to be found in the columns of our respective city papers: |
Shreveport & Marshall Rail Road |
Arrives ____ Departs
____ Tickets can be had on application at the Ticket Office, at ____
Hotel. |
An. Imagination, Superintendent. |
N. B. The steamers Good Idea and
Williteverbe, will leave the wharf immediately after the arrival of
the ____ trains, direct for New Orleans. Fare ____ Time 0:00 from
Marshall to Shreveport. |
It is pleasant these dull
times to be imaginative, and we know our readers will feel as we do
while thus writing. The imaginary shrill whistle of the locomotive as
it approaches the Depot, we hear, but find it impossible to make that
sound heard. Ah! there it is again. Did you hear it? |
