Proceedings of the Police Jury |
The Police Jury of the parish
of Caddo met, pursuant to adjournment, in the city of Shreveport, parish
of Caddo, on Monday, the fourth day of November, 1861. |

Whereas, It is desirable that
there should be a separation and disconnection between that portion of
the Vicksburg, Shreveport & Texas railroad lying west of the Red River
and that portion lying east of said river -- Therefore, |
Be it resolved, That L.
M. Nutt, Esq., be appointed to represent the Police Jury of the parish
of Caddo at the meeting of the President and Directors of said Railroad
Company and the meeting of the Stockholders, for the purpose of making
the necessary arrangement and agreement for said separation, with full
power to act in the premises for said purpose. |
Be it further ordained,
That our representatives in the next legislature of the State of
Louisiana be requested to obtain the necessary legislation to effect the
separation as aforesaid. |
