Special Dispatch to the Constitution |

Macon, August 15 |
The funeral ceremonies of the
late William M. Wadley occurred this evening at Bolingbroke. Special
trains from Macon, Savannah and Atlanta brought fully fifteen hundred
persons. Prominent railroad officials from all parts of the state were
present, and many leading citizens. The remains were taken from the
family residence at three o'clock and buried near the homestead.
Beautiful floral decorations were offered in abundance, and placed in
the casket was an exquisite crown of tube roses and other rare
flowers, emblematic of the high position which he held for so many
years. The services at the grave were conducted by Rev. J. R.
Winchester, of Christ's church, Macon, after which the burial
proceeded according to the Masonic ritual, being conducted by the
Masons of Macon. Six cars arrived from Savannah this morning, bearing
many of her best citizens, and numbers were also here from Columbus
and other neighboring towns. |
