Latest From the Front |
Our information from the front
is of a decidedly interesting character. We learn that the Macon &
Western railroad, from Jonesboro to East Point has been thoroughly
destroyed. Every rail having been torn up and cut in two with a chisel,
the cross ties all burned. In fact, the destruction of the road is
represented to be as complete as it possibly can be. This would indicate
that Sherman does not purpose advancing on Macon for some time yet; we
may therefore depend upon having a breathing spell to allow us to
recover from the shocks of the late disaster in arms met with in the
fall of Atlanta. ***** |
