The sounds of locomotives, so
familiar to her denizens of old, are again resonant on the air of
Atlanta, and the shrill whistle is almost hourly heard from the going
and returning trains. Freight and passenger trains are running
regularly on the Macon & Western and {Atlanta
&} West Point Roads. This morning, for the first time, the
construction train on the State Road {the
Western & Atlantic RR} ran out as far as Stone Mountain. By
the 20th, the road will be completed through, when Atlanta will again
rejoice in all her former railroad connections. |
