Atlanta & West Point Rail Road |
We are much gratified to learn
from an old Atlanta friend that the above road is now completed and
running to East Point, six miles from Atlanta. |
The construction corps is
encamped within three miles of the city, and it is expected that in a
few days the connection will be completed, and the whistle of the
engine give notice of the restoration of communication with the outer
world, and of the bustle and business animation which characterized
the city before the desolating irruption of the vandalic hordes of the
North. |
The Macon & Western road
has its track laid four miles beyond Jonesboro; leaving only ten miles
to lay before reaching East Point, when Macon will again be in
communication with Atlanta. |
