The report of business and
profits of the Road for the year ending Dec. 31st, 1864, is as
follows: |
Total receipts $3,040,667.05;
expenses, including $58,817.80 paid for building a foundry and an
addition to the machine shop, $1,861,927.55; leaving as profits
$1,178,740.20. The real operating expenses were 59 1/2 per cent. of
the gross income. |
Of the next income, dividends
have been paid amounting to $306,983.00; invested in Confederate 5 per
cent. bonds, $114,200.00; cotton, $237,?14.67; Columbia & Hamburg
Railroad, $682,253.60; cash on hand, $638,703.86. |
The road is well supplied with
motive power and rolling stock in good order. |
