Railroad Damage |
We learn that serious injuries
were inflicted upon the {Memphis &} Charleston
railway by the heavy and continuous rains of Monday and Tuesday. A
gentleman in town yesterday from Burnsville, Alabama, stated that an
unusually extensive flood had occurred in that neighborhood, washing
away the track. It is also stated that at Lake and Decatur serious
damages have occurred; the former place was expected to be put in
traveling condition yesterday. The Mississippi Central and the New
Orleans, Jackson & Great Northern are impassible. The regular
communication is therefore delayed and the mails are interrupted. |
