East Tenn. & Virginia Railroad Company |
The regular annual meeting of the
Directors and Stockholders of this Company was held at the Depot in
this city on the 27th inst. It must have been very gratifying and
encouraging to the friends of the road to learn from the report of
John R. Banner, President that the earnings of the year ending October
30th, 1862, was double that of any previous year, that the present
condition of the entire road is better and safer that if has been at
any former period of its history and is unsurpassed by that of any
other road in the South, this too at a time when labor and materials
are procured with great difficulty and expense. This certainly
reflects much credit upon the President and officers under him, and is
a guarantee that the future interest of the company will not be
neglected. |
The new board of Directors met and elected
the following officers: John Banner, President, P. {L.,
not P.}
C. Hoss, Superintendent, John Keyes, Treasurer. |
The President of the Company ought by all
means, (and we have no doubt, he will,) publish his report, so that
the public may see something of the operations of the road under his
Presiding. |
