Our railroad progress is good. We have satisfactory assurance from the Congress of the Confederate States, that all railroad iron that is now contracted for will be admitted free of duty into our ports. This will be a saving of four or five hundred thousand dollars to the railroad interests of Texas.
The Washington county road is now completed within five miles of Brenham, and is running regularly to Chappell Hill. Other roads are pushing along.
