The {Houston
& Texas} Central train Monday was detained by the washing
of a culvert near Navasota. It arrived eight hours behind time. The
train arrived yesterday as usual. On neither day was any mail received
except from way stations, all the stages having failed to make
connections, as well as the Washington County train. The Brazos river
is out of its banks in many places, and at Cannon's Field near
Courtney, the water is said to have set back to the railroad
embankment. We need not look for regular mail for a day or two. |
