The following items from East
Tennessee, are from the Atlanta Register of Dec. 17th: |
The East Tennessee & Virginia
Railroad is under the charge of Major Wallace. |
The road is greatly damaged.
The bridges across the Holston and Watauga were both utterly destroyed.
In thirty days Wallace will have the railroad finished from Knoxville to
Bristol. |
Young Charles B. Wallace will
superintend the reconstruction of the railroad from Dalton to Knoxville
{East Tennessee & Georgia RR}. Five hundred
men are detailed for this work. |
