Wilmington, Jan. 28 |

At 1 P. M. to-day a lot of 435
bales of cotton {about a dozen carloads -- one
entire trainload} lying on the wharf in front of the Custom
House was nearly all destroyed by fire. The adjacent buildings were
not damaged. |
Two car-loads of cotton on the
W. and W. {Wilmington & Weldon} Railroad,
4 miles from town, were also burned this morning. |
