Annual Meeting |
The annual meeting of the stockholders of
the Greenville & Columbia Railroad Company was held yesterday in their
hall. |
Hon. Jas. L. Orr was called to the chair,
and C. V. Carrington, the Secretary of the Company, was requested to act
as Secretary. |
Hon. T. C. Perrin submitted the report of
the President and Directors, together with the General Superintendent's
report, and the accompanying tables of the Auditor and Treasurer, which
were received and unanimously adopted. |
The stock was very fully represented,
individually and by proxy. Gen. A. C. Garlington represented the State
stock, H. T. Peake and Benjamin Lucas, Esqs., the stock of the city of
Charleston, Hon. Jno. H. Boatwright the stock of the city of Columbia,
and H. T. Peake, Esq., the stock of the South Carolina Railroad Company. |
The stockholders passed a resolution to
convert the assessment (and accruing interest) into stock of the
Company, in conformity with the recent act of the Legislature, which
authorized the Company to issue stock to the State and other
stockholders for the assessment. |
The following gentlemen were unanimously
re-elected: Hon. T. C. Perrin, President; and V. McBee, Esq., Thos. M.
Cox, Es., Hon. J. N. Whitner, Col. J. P. Reed, Dr. J. F. Livingston,
Charles Smith, Esq., Hon. John Belton O'Neal, Col. S. Fair, Robert
Steward, Esq., Jno. M. Allen, Esq., Hon. C. G. Memminger, and Daniel
Blake, Esq., Directors for the ensuing year. |
