The Mails |
Mr. Johnson, of the Charlotte & South
Carolina Railroad, has gone to Montgomery, in compliance with the
request of Postmaster General Reagan, and the Presidents of the roads
connecting East and West, to meet him in Montgomery, and arrange for the
continuance of the mails over these routes. Mr. Johnson says that the
road over which he has control, will carry the mail whether paid or not,
until a further arrangements made. Such a course, we are persuaded, will
be pursued by all the railroads in this state. |
