Fatal Casualty |
On Saturday, about two o'clock p. m., the
down freight train on the Northeastern Railroad, when within twenty
miles of Charleston, ran over a negro woman, who was sleeping on the
track, and instantly killed her. The whistle was blown and the brakes
put on, but the train was going down grade, and its speed could not be
checked in time to save the life of the unfortunate woman. She was owned
by Mrs. Huff, of Sandy Hills. |
