The Great Southern Mail Route |
We learn by telegraph that a meeting of
railroad officers was held in Washington on the 26th inst., to arrange
a schedule for the Great Southern Mail, so as to avoid the seceding
States. From what transpired in the meeting, it is probable it will be
sent by the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad to Columbus, Ohio, and
Cincinnati, and then across Kentucky and Tennessee by the Louisville,
Clarksville & Memphis Railroad {Memphis,
Clarksville & Louisville RR}, direct to Memphis. |
This is a very important arrangement, and
will materially enhance the value of stock in our road. The L. C.
& M. R. R. is represented at Washington by R. W. Humphrys {President
of the road} and C. O Faxon {Editor of
the Clarksville Jeffersonian}, who left here several days ago,
to be present on the occasion. they will attend faithfully and ably to
the interests of the road. |
