Shall the completion of the railroad from
Louisville to Memphis {Memphis, Clarksville
& Louisville RR} be celebrated, and if so, how and where,
is a question frequently asked. It strikes us that an event of such
importance should not be allowed to pass unnoticed. The appropriate
parties to arrange this matter would be the cities of Louisville and
Memphis. They are to be the recipients of the great advantages of the
road and should therefore take the matter in hand, What say you,
Wallace and Lucas of the Journal, Morse of the Democrat, and McKee of
the Courier, and gentlemen of the Memphis press. "Should the
thing be did?" We understand that the regular running
arrangements will not go into effect until the 5th of April. In the
mean time an excursion could come off without interfering with the
regular business of the roads. |
