The through connection with Memphis has
unexpectedly been delayed, on account of a heavy rise in Tennessee
River. The back water has overflowed a portion of the single road in
the gap, and communication is impossible. It is probable that, by the
time the water falls the track {of the Memphis,
Clarksville & Louisville RR} will be complete to a point
beyond the present obstruction. We are informed that the contractor is
already with his stages to commence as soon as the road is
practicable. |
