The Cause of the Rail Road
Accident {on the Atlanta & West
Point RR} |
There were several box cars in
the train belonging to the South Carolina Rail Road. The truck under
one of these was in some way defective, or had got out of order, so
that, in turning a curve, the wheels could not accommodate themselves
to it. This caused it to run off the track, thereby throwing off a
number of others. The great wonder is, that the damage is so small. It
seems almost miraculous that in such a terrible smash up, only one
should have been killed, and so few maimed. We suppose no blame can
properly be attached to any one, on account of this unfortunate
accident. |
