From the Alexandria (Va.) Gazette

April 29, 1861

The Winchester Republican says, that the late march of troops from the Manassas Gap Road to Winchester, has made many converts to the "Strasburg connection," and that a member of the Senate who has heretofore voted against the scheme will hereafter support it. He will think better of it after a while; more especially when he sees it is a hundred times more important to foster the Manassas Gap Road, rather than cripple it by this Strasburg connection.
