The Macon & Western Railroad |
The total earnings of the Macon & Western Road in 1864
were $1,558,666.33. After paying a dividend of $300,000 there
remains as assets $177,003.29. |
The Confederate Government owes the Road $500,000. The
Company owns twenty-five negro men. |
During the year the Company has lost eighteen cars, three
engines seriously injured, the ware house and engine house at
Atlanta, the ware house at Jonesboro, and some buildings at
Lovejoy's. |
Twenty-one and a half miles of the end of the track next
to Atlanta, sustained injury as follows: Iron removed by the enemy,
ties unhurt, five and a half miles; iron destroyed totally and ties
burned, three and a quarter miles; iron destroyed partially, ties
partially burned, thirteen miles. |
