A few days ago we had a pleasant interview
with our old friend and neighbor, J. G. W. Mills, Esq., Special Agent
of the Postoffice Department for this section. He had just returned
from a trip through Northwestern Georgia, where he had been engaged in
the good work of re-establishing the mails all through that section.
In this he had been eminently successful, and we are truly glad to
announce that the mails are restored along the line of the Western
& Atlantic Railroad as far as Calhoun, in Gordon County. The main
line supplies the offices of Marietta, Acworth, Cartersville,
Manassas, Kingston, Adairsville and Calhoun, enabling all the
collateral routes to receive their mails regularly. This communication
is now almost entirely restored throughout all Northwestern Georgia.
Regular mail lines are re-established communicating with Brown's,
Roswell, Alpharetta, Big Creek, Cumming, Coal Mountain, Crossville, Aurora,
Dahlonega, Rome Noonday, Woodstock, Holly Springs, Dallas, Canton, Van
Wert, Cedar Town, Cherokee Line, Troy, Field Cross Roads,
Freemansville, Hickory Flat, Stilesboro, Lake Creek, Ellijay, Talking
Rock, Fair Mount, Pine Log, Euharlee, and various other offices which
we cannot now enumerate. |
