The Board met on the call of
the President. Present: |

After consultation Mr Tucker
moved that Plan No 1 for a large shed covering both Tracks at the
Raleigh Depot be adopted and that the President be directed to proceed
immediately with the Building. Agreed to. |
The subject of the Round House
was then discussed and after consulting with Mr Anderson M. M. Mr
Cameron moved that the President and Superintendent be authorized to
proceed immediately to erect a section of a Round House necessary for
stabeling Ten, Fifteen or Twenty Engines. Agreed to |
Mr Davis moved that the
President be authorized to buy Cotton at his discretion under the recent
order of the Stockholders. Passed |
On motion of Mr Tucker it was
agreed to suspend the buying of negroes for the present. |

On motion of Mr Cameron the
President was directed to apply to President Davis or the Governor for
two pieces of Artillery and 500 or 1000 stands of arms with a suitable
supply of Ammunition to be used for the defence of this point in the
event of a Yankee Raid and the Superintendent was requested to organize
the Shop force, the men to elect their own officers and to be allowed
suitable time to drill in Work Hours. |
