The Board met according to
adjournment. Present: |

Mr Cameron was requested to
take the Chair. |

Dr Bellamy moved to proceed to
election of Superintendent by ballot, which Mr Mebane was appointed to
inspect. Mr. Webb stated that he was authorized by Mr Wilkes to withdraw
his name, if any objection should be made to his reappointment, which
was done. The Ballot resulted in favor of Mr Sumner 8 votes. Mr Shaver
moved that the salary be placed at $4,000 -- Passed. Mr. Sumner asked
time to consider and promised to return an answer in a few days. |

The President was instructed
to go to Richmond to procure the settlement of our claims against the
Government. |
